Palm and Tree Maintenance

Palm Tree Doctor, a Division of GeoProvide offers palm and tree maintenance to ensure your palms and trees are protected from various insects, diseases and deficiencies caused by malnutrition also in Australia. We have Certified Arborists on staff using a unique method to properly treat distressed and diseased palms.

In one of our largest projects in the Middle East we had to revive palm trees around the private operated Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). After installing our all in one soil conditioner, water retainer and fertiliser, GeoRevive®, the palm trees were coming back to life and now they are healthier than ever before.

The proper treatment will be determined by having a representative make a diagnosis in person. Our proven method has saved hundreds of palms over the years.

The cost of the treatment is surprisingly affordable, especially considering the cost to replace a single mature palm. If you have recently purchased palms, you know how expensive they are.

Prices for maintaining palms vary, depending on the number and types of palms treated. Our representative will be happy to quote prices in person while at your property.

Palm Malnutrition

Palms can suffer from Malnutrition and deficiencies such as:

Magnesium (Mg) Deficiency – Common in many palms, visual symptoms can include a chlorosis (premature yellowing) of the fronds. In some species of palms, (Mg) deficiency can also appear as necrotic (dead) leaflet margins (edges). Magnesium is required for photosynthesis and is also the center element in the chlorophyll molecule (the green pigment in plant leaves).

Manganese (Mn) deficiency is most common in foxtail, royal, queen and roebelenii palms, though it can occur in many other palm species. Visual symptoms include deformed growth of the emerging (newest) fronds. The new growth will appear stunted (short), with leaflets curled at the tips and scorched at the margins (leaflet edges). Mn deficiencies are common in all parts of South Florida.

Potassium (K) Deficiency – Generally considered the most common deficiency in palms. Visual symptoms vary among palm species, but generally include yellow spotting of leaflets and necrotic leaflet tips. Potassium is required for stabilizing chemistry within cells and play a major role In photosynthesis and protein building within cells.

Boron (B) Deficiency – Not as common as some of the other deficiencies, but it can cause some striking visible frond deformations. Visual symptoms include a rippled, accordion-like appearance in newly emerging fronds as well as fronds that stay closed and do not open properly. Boron deficiency can also cause a severe bending of new growth, causing the palm to bend at a 90-degree angle. Boron is required for cell wall synthesis and carbohydrate transport. Chronic Boron deficiency is usually fatal.

Palm Tree Doctor can correct and reverse various deficiencies and they should all be treated early. We have a proprietary method to treat and reverse these deficiencies and after the palm has recovered, our maintenance program will assure that the palm does not regress and become deficient again.
